About Us
In our journey as both life partners and colleagues, we’ve experienced the profound impact of blending our professional skills with our personal bond. Working together as therapists allows us to create a unique, creative therapeutic environment where our complementary approaches enhance the healing process.
At Core Concepts Counseling, we provide compassionate therapy in a safe, non-judgmental space, whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, or relationship challenges. We believe our partnership brings a holistic perspective to therapy, offering clients a balanced blend of insights. Together, we strive to foster a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to navigate your personal journey.
Karla Beaman, LCSW
With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, I began my journey as a licensed dental hygienist, helping patients manage their dental anxiety. Later, as a nontraditional student, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Texas and my Master’s in Social Work from Texas Christian University in 2016. Along the way, I received specialized training in mindfulness, brainspotting, and trauma therapy, bringing valuable experience from a variety of therapeutic settings.
I work with people who feel weighed down by fear, overwhelm, or patterns in their relationships that seem impossible to change. Many of my clients have experienced trauma, struggle with codependency, or find themselves repeating dynamics that began in their families of origin. You may feel stuck, wanting something different but unsure how to get there. Together, we’ll create a safe space to explore what’s been holding you back and discover healthier ways of connecting with yourself and others. I often use Brainspotting, a powerful therapy approach that helps the brain and body process unresolved experiences so you can find real relief and freedom. My goal is to support you in moving forward with more clarity, confidence, and peace in your life and relationships.

Life has a way of testing us. Whether it’s the weight of anxiety that won’t let up, the fog of depression, the pain of unresolved trauma, or the strain of relationships that no longer feel fulfilling, these challenges can leave you feeling stuck, exhausted, and alone. That’s often when people reach out for therapy-when the old ways of coping stop working, and a new path forward feels necessary.
I became a therapist because I believe healing is possible for everyone. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping clients from all walks of life-professionals struggling with stress and burnout, individuals navigating grief or trauma, and couples seeking to rebuild connection and trust. Each story is unique, but what unites them is a deep desire to feel more at peace, more connected, and more alive.
I offer a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can safely explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we’ll identify the root causes of your struggles and develop practical tools to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
One of the approaches I use is Brainspotting, a powerful, brain-body therapy that helps clients process unresolved trauma, emotional pain, and limiting patterns at a deeper level than talk therapy alone. Many clients find Brainspotting to be a transformative experience, helping them release what has been holding them back and discover new freedom in how they think, feel, and live
